The French School System
School in France: Pre-Elementary School,
known as maternelle, is for children aged 2
to 5. Pre-Elementary School is broken down
into three sections according to age:
- Petite Section
(pre-school) – 33 months/4
- Moyenne Section
(pre-kindergarten) –
ages 4/5
- Grande Section
(kindergarten) – 5/6 (French
language experience required)
