Why
French?
French is spoken by 150 million people on
five continents. It is the language of
the forty-five countries that form La
Francophone, the equivalent of a French
commonwealth. Although more people
speak Chinese, Hindi, and Spanish, French is
spoken in more countries - over a greater
geographical area than any of these, making
French second only to English as a global
language. French is also one of the
official languages for NATO, INTERPOL, and
the United Nations.
The French Academy of Minnesota offers a
French-based curriculum for preschool and
elementary education. It provides a
language-enriched learning environment where
students master essential academic skills
and cultivate multiple means of exploration
and expression. The educational
program promotes critical thinking and
problem solving, the acquisition of civic
responsibility, and the development of life
values within an international community. |
