Classes
The French School System
Schooling is broken down into three cycles to take student's different developmental rhythms into account and to ensure educational continuity.

Cycle I includes the three Pre-Elementary School sections. Kindergarten is the transition period between Cycle I and Cycle II.

Cycle II includes Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade.

Cycle III includes grades 3 through 5.
The "Ecole Primaire" in France (Elementary level) includes:
CP (1st grade)
CE1 (2nd grade)
CE2 (3rd grade)
CM1 (4th grade)
CM2 (5th grade)
