Philosophy

At The French Academy of Minnesota, we…

Provide a loving, nurturing, and caring atmosphere in which children feel secure;

Meet each child’s physical needs while encouraging independence and self-care;

Encourage curiosity within each child;

Offer a wide variety of activities within the curriculum, including practical life, sensorial, language, math, art, music and movement, science, and dramatic play;

Provide ample opportunity for the use of large motor skills for indoor and outdoor activities;

Encourage parent involvement and foster open and honest communication.

The material layout and choice of objects, tools, games, pictures, and books that make up the children’s environment is in keeping with a child’s size and vision of the world. The classroom becomes a space that children can call their own. All of the elements of this environment are carefully selected by the teacher and have well-defined purposes.
